EXPERIENCE AS A PHYSICAL SCIENCE TEACHER

My sixteen weeks of school internship was the most inspiring experience in my life. I was assigned to K.P.M V.H.S.S, Poothotta for my teaching practice. I learned a lot about myself as a teacher, my strength and my weakness. I had taken physics and chemistry for IXth standard during my teaching practice. The students possessed their unique personalities; therefore, it made for an interesting and often challenging period.
Throughout my school internship, I was happy to maintain good relation with my fellow teacher trainees who became the part of my teaching experience. I was a little worried about my first few classes, but as I got to know the students better and establish relationship with them, the problems mostly vanished.
I always tried to carry out my class hours with interesting activities and ICT presentations related to my topics. I learned many things through my student teaching experience. The biggest and most important thing I learned during teaching practice is to be confident. In the beginning of the internship, I was a little tensed and I find less confident to mingle with my students. After certain classes, I was more comfortable in front of the class. Once I gained my confidence, I had more fun with teaching.
Classroom management was another area which I learned during my teaching practice. When I started building better relationships with my students, there was an improvement in my class management. Students listened and respected me more, so there were less distractions and negative behavior. Students cooperated well for examinations and science quiz.
I had got the opportunity to conduct some sports items. I also found some difficulties in teaching during the internship. Imperfections of black board writing affected my class hours. But I tried to improve this by continuous practice. As a teacher, I always tried to win the hearts of my students. I always want them to be motivated to learn. I teach for my students. They are my sincere critics. As a teacher, I always hope to get improved by each and every day.
